Title 1

What is Title 1?
Title 1 is a federally funded program designed to support schools with higher percentages of low-income students. The goal is to help all students achieve proficiency in the state's academic standards.

The purpose of Title 1 is to:

• Improve student achievement in key academic areas.
• Provide professional development for teachers.
• Promote parent engagement to support student success.

A school qualifies for Title 1 funding if 40% or more of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Currently, our school has 36.5% eligibility and operates under a one-year waiver.

How are Title 1 Funds Used?
Title 1 funds are used to:

• Hire highly-qualified staff.
• Purchase textbooks and classroom supplies.
• Provide professional development for teachers.
• Support parent engagement activities.

• Classes are taught by highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.
• Parents have the right to request information about teacher and paraprofessional qualifications.
• Learning needs are identified through assessments, and targeted interventions are provided.

• Annual reviews of academic progress at Parent Teacher Conference including:
  • RISE test results.
  • Acadience assessments.
  • Classroom tests and homework.

• Math uses the iReady Curriculum aligned to the state standards.
  • Formative and Summative Assessments are given.
  • The iReady Assessment is given 3 times a year to monitor progress.
• Language Arts Curriculum is aligned to the state standards.
  • Wonders (Newly adopted curriculum)
  • Early Reading Intervention
  • Saxon Phonics
  • Reading for All Learners
  • Additional Research Based Curriculum
    • Formative and Summative Assessments are given.
    • The ACADIENCE Assessment is given 3 times a year to monitor progress in Reading Fluency and Comprehension.
• Science Curriculum follow the state standards.

• Apply for the Free and Reduced lunch program even if you don’t plan to have your children eat school lunch.

• Attend Parent Teacher Conferences with your children.
• Sign the Student/Teacher/Parent Compact.
• Support your children by helping them complete their homework each night, read 20 minutes daily, getting good rest and making it to school on time.
• We are excited to roll out a new incentive reading program this year.
