Drop-Off and Pick-up Guidelines

Arrival Time

In the interest of safety, please do not drop off your student(s) before 8:35 a.m., as there is no supervision before that time.
Please be sure to have your child/children here on time. Students who are consistently tardy are at a clear disadvantage and usually arrive feeling frantic and unprepared.
The first morning bell rings at 9:00 a.m. Our school day begins at 9:05 a.m. every day.
All students who arrive after 9:05 a.m. must sign in at the office.
If your child is going to be absent, please call and inform our school office at 435-563-6269.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Drop off and pick up locations are on both the east and west side of Summit Elementary. In order to accommodate the needs of families smoothly and efficiently, drop off and pick up zones are assigned as follows:

Grades K-3: West Drop Off (100 W)

Use 200 South to access 100 West (no right turns will be allowed from 100 S.). The pick-up zone is clearly marked.

Grades 4-6: East Drop Off (circle drive)

Use Main Street to access Center Street.
If you have multiple students, please use the drop off for your youngest child.

Drop off and pick up expectations:

Stay in your car - your student will come to you
Do not park in zones that are designated for buses or drop off and pick up
Please be attentive in the car line to prevent gaps and increase efficiency for all families
If there is a gap in the line when you arrive, still go to the end of the line using 200 South
U-Turns are not allowed
Cross the street only at designated crosswalks
Be respectful of teachers on crosswalk, bus, and drop-off/pick-up duties

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA works hard to support teachers, staff, and students. There are many opportunities to help/volunteer in different capacities. Feel free to contact the PTA at summitschoolpta@gmail.com to volunteer or ask any questions. Watch for future updates through email, text and Facebook.

Each month the PTA emails an Eagles Nest Newsletter telling you what’s happening at Summit Elementary. This newsletter is also be posted on the school website.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences in elementary school play a crucial role in fostering a strong partnership between parents and educators, ultimately benefiting the child's academic and emotional growth. These meetings provide an invaluable opportunity for parents to gain insight into their child's progress, strengths, and areas for improvement while allowing teachers to share observations and strategies tailored to the child's unique learning style. By maintaining open communication, parents and teachers can work together to ensure that every child receives the support they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Step-By-Step Parent/Guardian Instructions for Scheduling Parent-Teacher Conferences

Click on the following link to access the scheduler: Parent Teacher Conference Scheduler.
From the Online Scheduler Home Page:
1. Choose your student’s school from the drop-down list and click “GO”
2. Enter the school password: Eagles
3. Enter your student’s “Student ID”. If you do not know their Student ID, use the LOOKUP STUDENT ID button to access the system.
4. Verify the student’s birth date
5. A list of your student’s teachers will be displayed. Check the box next to the name of each teacher(s) you would like to meet with.
6. If you have more than one student in the school you can see all of your students’ teachers’ schedules at one time by answering YES to this question “Do you want to schedule conferences for another student?” then repeat the steps above for your other students. If you only have one student, answer NO to that question.
7. You will then see the available time slots for each teacher you selected.
8. Select the times that work best for your schedule.
9. Enter your email address (recommended) if you would like an email reminder sent to you. (Your email address is kept private.)
10. Once you have finished you can confirm your appointment details and print your conference schedule.
11. Write down the Confirmation Number (you will need this number to cancel your appointment)

PowerSchool and Canvas Information

Canvas Information

Parents can set up parent Canvas accounts and view the courses for which their children are enrolled. The process is simple and takes just a few minutes. Parents will need to work with their children to obtain the necessary "pairing codes" to complete the process.

Safety at Summit Elementary

Keeping our students, employees, and school visitors safe is a top priority. We regularly review and practice safety processes and procedures in our schools.

BUILDING SECURITY
Extensive measures have been taken at each CCSD school to ensure building security. We ask that parents support these efforts by checking in at the main office whenever they visit the school. Additionally, students and parents are encouraged to report any security or safety concerns immediately. To report a safety concern, please speak with a school administrator or, to report it anonymously, utilize SafeUT.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Our district has adopted standard response protocols (SRPs) as part of our school safety plan, which establishes uniform, planned, and practiced response to an emergency or incident. Monthly drills are held at each school so students and staff can become familiar with and practice the SRPs. The SRPs are:

HOLD. Students and staff remain in the room or area.
SECURE. Students and staff are inside the building with locked exterior doors.
LOCKDOWN. Interior doors are locked, lights are off, students and staff are out of sight.
SHELTER. Students and staff shelter in place and respond to the hazard appropriately.
EVACUATE. Students and staff move to an announced location.

School Meal Information

The mission of the Cache County School District's Child Nutrition Program is to deliver safe, healthy, and enjoyable meals to the students of the Cache County School District. It is also our goal to provide a safe, clean and cheerful environment in the lunchroom and to give each student a positive experience during their meal.

School Activities and Programs

Summit Service Squad

Summit Service Squad at Summit Elementary

Summit Service Squad is a program that allows students in 5^th and 6^th Grade to take on a leadership role in Summit Elementary. Students are selected by applications to participate on the Squad.

These students will have opportunities to perform service for our school as well as help participate in assemblies and other school activities as needed. Students come to twice a month morning meeting as well as doing some service projects throughout the year for the school.

Mountain West String Academy

Mountain West String Academy (MWSA) provides an optional first and second year elementary orchestra program for Cache County School District. Students in 5th and 6th grade can learn the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Orchestra classes are held two days per week before or after school. MWSA also offers supplemental lab classes on Saturday mornings for first-year students. Beginning students in grades 5-6 are invited to register for the 1st Year class. Advanced second-year students can audition for the MWSA Ambassador Orchestra, a second-year honors orchestra.

Participation in MWSA is not required in order for students to participate in orchestra at the secondary level.
